To hear her music, you would assume that Emma Tricca had spent her life completely immersed in English folk culture. The young Italian's second album follows the same template as its predecessor: pensive songs hued in the 1970s folk of Fairport Convention and Pentangle, as the jazzy bumble of Distant Screen and the retro sizzle of Take Me Away attest to. Amid the Brit-folk, a Greenwich Village vibe is audible on November at My Door, which blossoms into life with a distinctly Nilsson-esque warmth, while Sunday Reverie pings with Joni Mitchell's sweetness. Although Tricca's idiosyncratic voice is a selling point, it is audibly informed by her influences. Anyone can softly pluck an acoustic guitar or gently play a keyboard riff – and all too often, some songs seem downright ordinary. emmatricca.com Download: November at My Door, Take Me Away
