The trend for endless runners shows no sign of abating. The latest to get a starring role in one is Sackboy, the Little Big Planet star. The knitted mascot has all sorts of obstacles to dodge as he makes his way through the different levels, from spikes and pink goo that slows him down to electric circuits that mean game over and the Negativitron that is hot on his heels.

He has some protection; a shield, for example, can be charged up as he runs, collecting bubbles and stickers on his way. If Sackboy gets bogged down in the goo, a well timed dash – a swipe across the screen – can put some distance between him and the Negativitron. The bubbles come in handy for buying boosts to get you off to a better start, or upgrading powers such as a magnet to attract bubbles from harder to reach places.

It’s not just about collecting bubbles though. There are missions to complete, such as collecting a set number of stickers or performing certain moves during a single run. The levels change completely as you run, from a garden, to futuristic world, to a canyon and so on. It’s fairly standard fare for endless runners, but with Sackboy, it adds a cute element to it.
