Ever fancied being screamed at by an irritable Scotsman? You have? Then download Gordon Ramsay Dash. Download it now.

As the name suggests, it’s celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay as the star of the game, keeping a watchful eye on you as you progress from a small burger joint to more salubrious surroundings.

He watches it all from the corner of the kitchen, occasionally interjecting to tell you to hurry up, congratulate you on a job well done or warn you that you’re running out of time. And to swear at you, of course. You’d expect a game that Ramsay put his name on to have a little earthy language now and again. It’s mild, mind you (the app has a 9+ rating for that reason) so it certainly won’t teach you anything you didn’t alreadyknow.

It’s basically the same Dash format that has served Glu well for the last decade and a half. Run around, create dishes and serve customers as quickly as possible, keeping them happy and the tables moving. You can upgrade things like your grill to make it faster or your ingredients, so you can earn more coins per meal. Reach all three stars and you will get a bonus item from at the end - some in game currency to spend on upgrades or a new outfit, or some gold, that can also be used for better equipment along with your coins.

You’ll need it. If you’ve played a Dash game before you know that things get more complex and the customers get more demanding the further you progress into the game.

SuperGordon makes an appearance from time to time. Fill the bar and you will see Ramsay literally on fire as he dashes around the restaurant serving customers for you. It’s a booster that is effective and very welcome when the world is going to hell and you on’t know whether to deal with the beanie-wearing pizza addict or the VIP who has suddenly wandered in.

If you gain enough fame, you can can participate in chef battles, but that requires a lot of time and effort. Besides, it’s enough to handle just progressing through the different seasons of Gordon Ramsay Dash.

Ramsay Dash is free, but you’ll have to put up with the odd add here and there in return. There are plenty of in-app purchases, but it’s possible to play the game without spending a cent. You can even earn extra in game items by watching an ad or two.

If you’re hoping for Ramsay at his fiery, sweary best (worst?) this may not be quite what you were expecting. But as a commute distraction, it beats tackling the same level of Candy Crush.
