The 88th Academy Awards, the highest honours in the movie industry, were handed out a ceremony in Hollywood on Sunday hosted by comedian Chris Rock.

There were nine Irish-associated nominations in total, including a best picture nod for Brooklyn and a best actor mention for that film's star Saoirse Ronan.
