One More Thing: Having kept below the radar in Ireland, HKR Architects in Dublin is beginning to register overseas

One More Thing:Having kept below the radar in Ireland, HKR Architects in Dublin is beginning to register overseas. BD World Architecture's annual survey of the top global practices gives HKR a first-time ranking of 70th place, based on the 128 architects it employs.

This puts it behind Cork-based Reddy Architecture in 55th spot, with 160 architects, and one place ahead of Murray O'Laoire, which has 127.

In revenue terms, however, HKR leads with revenues listed as $30-$39 million. The fee incomes of Reddy and Murray O'Laoire are both listed as $20-$29 million.

HKR's success can be partly attributed to a seemingly strong relationship with property developer Bernard McNamara. It has been hired to design the multi-million euro Thornton Hall prison for the McNamara- led Leargas Consortium.

It is also working on a proposal for a colocated private hospital to be built in the grounds of Tallaght Hospital for a McNamara-led consortium that has been shortlisted by the Health Service Executive.

HKR recently opened an office in Prague, while it is drawing up a master plan in Bratislava for the Quinlan Private Golub group's new urban quarter.
