The potential for disruptive innovation in health will be among the topics discussed at a National Digital Research Centre (NDRC) FutureHealth open event in Dublin today.

SilverCloud Health chief executive Ken Cahill, Pharmapod chief executive Leonora O'Brien, Sláinte Technologies chief executive Andrew Murphy and Crospon Technologies chairman John O'Dea will be among the speakers and will discuss the future of healthcare and medicine and the potential for new technologies in the space.

FutureHealth – a new digital pre-accelerator for health-tech ventures – is seeking applications from people looking to solve global health challenges and bring digitally oriented health products to market.

NDRC chief executive Ben Hurley said the aim is to work with academic researchers across Ireland to move their technology out of the academy or clinic into the commercial world.

“With a focus on team formation and market validation, early customer development and pre-venture investment, it is built to bring through ventures which can disrupt health sciences,” he added.

The 10 start-ups selected for the programme will get access to leading mentors from the health sciences, technology entrepreneurs and the investment community, and a proven process to test their ideas.
