Moo.la, a recently established London technology firm which operates in the wealth-management market, plans to set up a centre in Belfast that is expected to create 42 jobs.

The North's Economy Minister, Simon Hamilton, said the firm plans to introduce "cutting-edge technology that will significantly shake up the wealth-management market".

He added: “ The new centre here in Belfast will help to put Northern Ireland expertise at the heart of this revolution. I know the company considered other locations for its centre but was swayed towards Belfast by the cost-effective business environment, the talent pool and our high-quality telecommunications infrastructure. ”

Invest NI has offered Moo.la assistance of £252,000 (€290,000) to secure the investment and jobs boost.

Mr Hamilton hopes the 42 jobs the London firm plans to create will deliver £1.4 million a year to the local economy.

Moo.la co-founder Gemma Godfrey believes the firm has an opportunity to tap “a yet uncrowded market” and she says its new Northern Ireland centre will help it realise its ambitions.

“Our online wealth-management service provides the automation, cutting-edge technology and design to offer people investment options previously out of reach and the knowledge to make smarter decisions with peace of mind.

“The UK has 5.5 million high-earning people who potentially are looking to invest surplus disposable income,” she said.
