Irish start-up GameSparks is in line for a European gaming award after being nominated in the Develop Awards.

The company, which is based in Dublin and offers a cloud-based solution for developers to build the server-side components of a game without needing to set up and run a server, is up for the Best Technical Innovation category.

Other nominees in the category include Oculus Rft, which was recently bought by Facebook, Sony’s Project Morpheus virtual reality experiment, and handheld console Nvidia Shield.

Co-founder John Griffin said it was a "remarkable achievement" to get the nomination.
