A British-based online booking service for cleaners, co-founded by Kildare woman Jules Coleman, has expanded its operations into Dublin. The company is hoping to disrupt the lucrative cleaning services market for the home by bringing the process of finding, booking and paying for a cleaner online.

Customers can go on to the Hassle. com site, type in their area code, browse through cleaner profiles and customer reviews and book. The process, from landing on the site to booking a cleaner, takes less than 60 seconds and costs €12 per hour in Dublin.

Coleman says people looking for a reliable, trusted cleaner no longer have to badger their friends for recommendations or deal with localised cleaning services where customers are assigned an unknown cleaner after a time-consuming and admin-heavy process.

The UCD graduate who gave up a job at PricewaterhouseCoopers believes the site is a great opportunity for cleaners in Dublin to gain more customers.

“We’ve seen cleaners progress from one or two cleaning jobs a day to being fully booked and in constant demand.”

Cleaners go through a phone interview, an in-person interview, and have their references checked before being accepted onto the site.

The London-based firm has already raised $6 million venture capital funding from Accel Partners, which counts Facebook and Hailo in its list of previous early-stage investments.

It has established offices near the Ha’penny Bridge in Dublin employing a staff of three with more hiring to come shortly.
