PwC Ireland has hired Robert Costello from KPMG to lead its newly established capital projects and infrastructure team.

The group said Mr Costello would scale up the firm’s offering in the area in Ireland. This includes recruiting a number of senior professionals with a broad range of financial and analytical skills.

This new business unit at PwC Ireland will form part of PwC’s global capital projects and infrastructure group comprising more than 1,700 professionals who help clients plan, finance, manage and deliver large-scale capital projects and infrastructure.

Combining financial, commercial, engineering, technology and industry expertise, the team will work with both the public and private sector throughout the entire life cycle of a capital project.

Feargal O’Rourke, managing partner of PwC Ireland, said: “Our investment in this business area complements our environmental, social, and governance focus, given that infrastructure is such a fundamental part of the Government’s Climate Action Plan 2021.”

‘Excited’

Mr Costello said he was “excited” to join PwC Ireland and to “have the opportunity to build the firm’s capital projects and infrastructure practice”.

“We are seeing significant growth in investment following the recent publication of the National Development Plan, which forecasts capital expenditure of €165 billion by 2030,” he said.

“This will include meeting climate ambitions which are critical to Ireland’s economic renewal and sustainability, building a digital society underpinned by infrastructure, transforming our transport sector, delivering on housing and delivering new healthcare facilities.”
