The once-mooted merger between the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) and the Commission for Communications Regulation (Comreg) may never have happened but that doesn't mean the two communications regulators can't do things together from time to time.

The BAI and Comreg have launched a joint tender process for the provision of web services to both organisations.

The BAI is seeking a contractor to deliver a new website and provide ongoing web hosting and website design, while Comreg is inviting tenders for “an experience strategy, design and web development project” among other services.

The deadline for responses is September 15th, with the award of the two-year contracts scheduled for the end of October.

The BAI operates a variety of sites, including its main corporate site bai.ie, its home for consultation documents and multimedia presentations baifuture.ie and its online application and contracting site baionline.ie. The design brief for the new site is for it to be “informative, media-rich and intuitive”.

Alongside its corporate website Comreg.ie, Comreg operates Askcomreg.ie and Callcosts.ie, which are aimed at consumers, and industry portals such as Phonesmart.ie, Comstat.ie, Consult.comreg.ie and Elicensing.comreg.ie.
