Irish forecourt retailer Applegreen has received permission to acquire a 50 per cent share in a joint fuels terminal in Dublin port for €15.7 million.

The approval from the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission paves the way for the acquisition of one of three fuel importing facilities in Dublin from the Topaz Energy Group.

The interest being acquired by Applegreen was previously owned by Esso Ireland and it is expected that the transaction will by completed by the middle of this month.

Applegreen currently operates in more than 200 locations, including 133 forecourts in the Republic of Ireland and over 60 in the UK.
