Dublin clampers to vote on possible strike action

Fifty workers employed by Dublin Street Parking Services are seeking an outstanding pay increase

Dublin’s clampers will next week vote on whether to take strike action in pursuit of an outstanding pay increase.

The 50 or so workers employed by Dublin Street Parking Services are due to hold a general meeting on Monday.

Siptu said members will be balloted on whether to take industrial action and strike action in pursuit of a 2.5 per cent pay increase which, it says, has been outstanding since 2011.

In a statement, the union said the current dispute with the company related to its “refusal to honour” the outstanding pay increase.

Separately, the union said workers had not reached agreement in relation to the introduction of clamping targets.

Dublin's clampers have been set a target by Dublin City Council to clamp 60,000 vehicles a year.

A letter sent by the company to staff claims the council has threatened to pay less for the service if the targets are not met.
