Pretax profits at Mullingar-based Bennett Construction, whose projects include the eBay office in Blanchardstown and Helix at DCU, rose by 194 per cent for the year ending March 2015.
New accounts show the group, which also has operations in London and Berlin, posted a pretax profit of €1.54 million for the 12 months under review versus €525,925 a year earlier. Operating profit rose 166 per cent from €524,928 to €1,398 million.
Turnover at the family owned firm, founded in 1917, jumped by 18.5 per cent from €81.2 million to €96.3 million with €66.2 million in revenues coming from Irish operations. Staff costs, including directors’ pay, rose from €5.89 million to €6.77 million.
The directors – Jim Bennett, Stephen Bennett, Paul Bruton, Carole Smilie, Michael Pigott and Paul McGee – shared €1.17 million, down on the €1.22 million a year earlier.
Recent projects include Penneys'/Primark's international headquarters in Dublin, and a bridge connecting Google's Gordon House and Gasworks offices with the Google Docks building in the Docklands.
