A Turkish investor was the top bidder at an auction last week for a 100 acre farm near Clonee on the Meath/Dublin border. There was considerable local interest among farmers in the quality land and, though several of them bid for it, no one was prepared to match the €1.5 million offered by the overseas bidder. Joint agents Coldwell Banker Commercial and The Leinster Property Auction said the €15,000 per acre was one of the highest prices paid for agricultural land in Meath and Dublin.

The tillage farm is in one block in the townland of Mayne, just off the M3.

Separately, Coldwell Banker Commercial has appointed Colm Lundy as commercial director to head the investment and professional services team.

Mr Lundy has over 25 years experience in the Irish, UK and German real estate markets and, as property director of Lidl, handled its launch in the Irish market. He began his career with Lisney after qualifying as a chartered surveyor.
