Harry Gleeson, chairman of Dangan Group, described Mr Whelan’s appointment as a “pivotal moment” for the business.

“We know that Brian will be a success in his new role as he continues to support our regional and cross-country development and we look forward to seeing what the future will bring for Dangan Group,” he said.

He added that the new managing director’s experience would assist Dangan in developing services across all its divisions.

Mr Gleeson confirmed that the company planned working with more customers and hiring new staff across all its businesses in Ireland.

Mr Whelan said he hoped to build on Dangan’s recent success and to develop new relationships with customers as the group continued to develop.

Dangan recently opened a new office in Belfast to aid its plans, adding the base to existing operations in Dublin and Cork.

The group’s businesses include Dangan Group Recruitment, Dangan Group Cleaning, Harper Finley Professional Recruitment and Merchandising Matters. Dangan Group is fully Irish owned.

Tánaiste Leo Varadkar welcomed the news of the additional jobs. “It’s a great boost,” he said.
