News: Tyrone start two NFL newcomers for tomorrow's sell-out match with Dublin, the first under lights at Croke Park. Colm Cavanagh, brother of Seán, comes in at left wing forward and Colm Donnelly is at full forward.

Cavanagh was one of the four students at the centre of controversy when manager Mickey Harte played them in the McKenna Cup against Derry, despite their having been selected in their colleges' panels.

Of the major injuries that engulfed the county's season last year, Conor Gormley is sufficiently recovered from a broken ankle to be named on the bench, but Brian McGuigan and captain Brian Dooher are still out.

Martin Penrose, more familiar as a forward, is selected at left wing back, although this is unlikely to be a long-term move, with regular incumbent Philip Jordan due back to the panel after an extended break.

Jonathan Curran is called up to provide cover for goalkeeper Pascal McConnell in the absence of injured John Devine, who dislocated a collarbone in Tuesday evening's run-out at Croke Park.

Ryan McMenamin will captain the team in the absence of Dooher.

Meanwhile, Armagh manager Joe Kernan has named four debutants for the trip to Newbridge to play Kildare in Sunday's Division One B fixture.

Among them is Kevin Dyas, a minor last year who distinguished himself in last May's memorable Hogan Cup final when, despite starting at centre back, he scored 2-1 in Abbey CBS's stunning victory over St Patrick's Navan.

The other newcomers are at the back - Kieran Toner at full back and Paudie McCreesh and Tony McClelland at right and left wing back.

Kernan is short seven panellists because of the involvement in the club championship of Crossmaglen Rangers, the club he led to three All-Ireland titles in the past 10 years.

Donegal recall Brendan Devenney, who wasn't available last year while playing soccer but whose return to the panel before Christmas, combined with the form that has helped the county to the McKenna Cup final, ensures his starting place against Cork tomorrow at full forward.

Teenager Kieran Gavin makes his debut for Westmeath at left corner back in the Division One B fixture against Laois. The other league debutant is Alan Rigney, who captained Tyrrellspass to the county championship last season and will play at right half back. Michael Ennis is an unusual selection on the edge of the square after a number of outstanding seasons at wing back.

Toomevara have been dealt a huge blow ahead of their All-Ireland club hurling semi-final with the news that corner back Paul McGrath has been ruled out through suspension.

McGrath, whose form had propelled him into contention for a place on the Tipperary senior panel, was sent off in a challenge match against University Limerick last weekend and has received a two-month ban from the Munster Council. As a result, he will play no part for the Tipperary champions against Kilkenny's Ballyhale Shamrocks in the eagerly awaited February 10th showdown in Portlaoise.

Finally, Clare hurling fans want hurling manager Tony Considine to sit down with goalkeeper Davy Fitzgerald to find a resolution to the stand-off between the pair.

Almost 92 per cent of respondents to a Clare FM poll yesterday indicated their desire to have the matter resolved with round-table talks.
