Women's Hockey: They failed to win either of their opening fixtures of the Leinster League season but draws with Pembroke Wanderers and Hermes mean it's been an encouraging start to the campaign for Old Alexandra. Tomorrow they will aim to take three points from Corinthian at Whitechurch.

While domestic honours might be the club's chief goal this season they also have European hockey in April, when they travel to Madrid to compete against teams from Holland, Germany, England, Spain, Scotland, Belarus and Italy. While the club has lost Ciara Murphy (in France for a year), Kerry Hiles (taking time out) and Kelly Whelan (moved to Scotland) they have been joined by Suzanne O'Connor, from Loreto, and Lucy Cotter from Catholic Institute, while Jeamie Deacon looks to build on her impressive first season.

Trinity open tomorrow against Loreto while Clontarf and Three Rock are unlikely to break their points duck against Railway Union and Hermes, respectively. UCD and Pembroke Wanderers meet at Belfield.
