Sir, – Micheál Martin has proposed nuclear power as a future energy option for Ireland (Nuclear Power Plant an option for Ireland – Home News, May 5th). This is a classic example of “kicking the can down the road” while delaying action on the country’s energy and environmental challenges.
He has yet to fully support proven solutions like wind and solar power, electric vehicles, retrofitting, and other practical measures that could be implemented immediately.
Could it also be a case of “learned helplessness or learned ignorance”? (Fintan O’Toole, Opinion May 5th, Government responds to the needs of whoever shouts loudest) – Yours, etc,
