On-air, off-air, the presenter’s pay continues to stir debate

Sir, – Given that we have been told that Ryan Tubridy’s contract is “under negotiation” and it is intimated that he will be off-air for nine months, I am curious. Is he still in receipt of a salary from RTÉ? – Yours, etc,

Sir – May I suggest a novel way in which RTÉ could possibly recoup the overpayment to Ryan Tubridy? That is to make the Tubridy/Kelly Dáil committee appearances pay per view events. I would imagine that they would bring in at least as much revenue as a certain musical flop. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – In the interest of balance, I still have time for Ryan Tubridy. He’s always struck me as one of the good guys and I don’t believe he has suddenly turned into a monster.

I suspect a great many of the people making a meal of the situation would be beating the door down for a similar deal if they thought for an instant they could get away with it. – Yours, etc,
