Time to shed the Christmas tree at a recycling centre

Christmas really comes to an end tomorrow on "Little Christmas"

Christmas really comes to an end tomorrow on "Little Christmas". Most councils around the State will be providing tree-recycling services over coming weeks.

Dublin City Council will accept trees from today until January 17th.

On the south side, trees can be brought to Markievicz Park in Ballyfermot; Brickfields Park in Crumlin; Bushy Park in Terenure; and Ringsend Park.On the north side, they can be left at St Anne's Park, Raheny; Albert College Park in Glasnevin; Mellowes Park in Finglas; and at Alfie Byrne Road.

Until Sunday, January 13th, the city council will also take empty glass bottles, food cans, plastics, household batteries and newspapers at its eight "bring" centres, at Collins Avenue; Oscar Traynor Road; Aldoborough Road, North Strand; Stanley Street; Gulistan Terrace, Rathmines; Kylemore Park North, Ballyfermot; Londonbridge Road, Irishtown; and at Windmill Road, Crumlin.

Fingal County Council is taking tree until January 14th.

In the Skerries area, depots are at Bath Road carpark, Balbriggan; South Strand lay-by, Skerries; Hayestown Depot, Rush; and Ball Alley carpark, Lusk.

In the Swords area trees can be taken to Outlands parks depot, Rathbeale Road, Swords; the Square, Donabate; and the Brook, Portrane.

Malahide/Howth residents should take trees to the public car park, Strand Road, Portmarnock; Kinsealy Court, Kinsealy; the Banks carpark, Malahide; Seagrange Park, Baldoyle; Sutton Park, Sutton; and Harbour car-park, Howth.

In the Blanchardstown and Castleknock area, trees are accepted at Auburn Avenue/Castleknock Park open space; Coolmine Industrial Estate, Coolmine; Carpenterstown Park East at Sycamore Avenue, Castleknock; Cherryfield Park, Blanchardstown; Blakestown Road/Blakestown Way junction, Whitestown; Buzzardstown Lane/Church Road junction, Mulhuddart; and Littlepace Roundabout, Castleheany, Clonee.

South Dublin County Council will take trees from Monday "until the end of the month sometime".

In Lucan,there are green waste recycling centres at Esker Lane; Beechpark open space; Sarsfield Park open space; Hillcrest open space. Palmerstown locations are Woodfarm Acres open space and Glenaulin Park.

Clondalkin centres are: Corkagh Park carpark; Monksfield open space; Collinstown Park; Quarryvale Park; Foxdene open space; Foxborough Park open space; Grand Canal open space at junction on Bawnogue and Lockview Road; St Cuthbert's Park and Cherrywood Crescent.

In Tallaght, trees are accepted at McGee Park; Killinarden Hill open space; and Sean Walsh park.

Other centres in the SDCC area are at Tree Park Road, Kilnamanagh ; Tymon Park; Glendown, opposite the Statoil garage; Aylesbury open space; Old Bawn Way open space; the new carpark at Cherryfield and Spawell Roundabout; Rathfarnham Castle carpark; and at the parks depot, Mill Lane, Saggart.

Dún Laoghaire/Rathdown County Council will take trees, from Monday, January 7th, until Thursday, January 10th, at the following locations: the FÁS site at Lounghlinstown; Cabinteely carpark; Hyde Park playing field in Dalkey; Mount Anvil parks depot; Marley Park in Rathfarnham; Ballyawley Park in Dundrum; Eden Park carpark in Glasthule; Blackrock Park; and St Patrick's field in Dunedin.

CORK: Cork City Council will accept trees from this morning, until January 26th at the Sanitary Landfill site at South City Link Road; Tory Top Park, Ballyphehane; parks depot, Togher; Murphy's Park, Bishopstown; Ballinlough Park; Skehard Road playground; Kennedy Park, Victoria Road; Glen Amenity Park, the Glen; Murmount Road and Iona Road junction, Montenotte; open space near the Sam Allen Sports Complex, Gurranabraher; Harbour View Road, Knocknaheeny; parks depot, Fairhill; and Leefield, Carrigohane.

GALWAY: Trees will be taken until January 18th beside the beach at Ballyloughane, Renmore; behind the Black Box Theatre, on Dyke Road; at Westside community centre carpark; Grattan Beach; and at the Corporation depot at Hunters, Barna Road.

LIMERICK: Trees will be accepted from Monday until January 18th at the Park Road depot.
