There is no evidence to suggest that Irish children were abused as part of the global internet paedophile ring which was broken up by UK police, gardaí have said.
But Supt Kevin Donohoe told RTÉ's Morning Ireland he is hopeful that gardaí will be able to make more arrests in connection with the ring.
Supt Donohoe added: "There is no indication in this operation or previous operations that children in Ireland were abused or at risk, but it cannot be ruled out. We don't have any firm information that points us in any particular direction in this country."
Thirty-one children were rescued by officers from the UK Child Exploitation and Online Protection Agency as part of an operation involving police in 35 countries.
The operation led to the arrest of one man by gardaí. A number of investigations are still going on here involving the Paedophile Investigation Unit in Harcourt Square.
