Amazon plans move to larger premises for Dublin centre

Move to Burlington Plaza in April will give internet giant more room to expand its team

Amazon is planning to move its development centre in Dublin to Burlington Plaza, giving the company more room to expand its team.

More than 100 staff members will move to the new 69,000 sq ft premises in April when the first phase of building work is completed, with the remainder making the move by June.

The Dublin Development centre, which opened in 2005, supports the design and deployment of Amazon Web Services and Amazon websites, with a mix of engineers, developers and support teams in place.

Managing director of the centre Jeff Caselden said the move would provide it with space to continue to create jobs.

Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton welcomed the announcement, describing it as a "strong indication" of Amazon's commitment to grow its business in Ireland.
