Estate agent Cushman & Wakefield has called for final bids by December 14th for the Galway Irish Crystal redevelopment site on the Old Dublin Road opposite Merlin Park hospital.

A guide price of €2.25 million has been set for the buildings on the 4.6 acres which are being sold on the instructions of real estate advisers Duff & Phelps.

The site is zoned for residential use and had planning permission for 178 apartments before the property crash.

However, new owners might well retain or enlarge the commercial buildings on site which are rented by the crystal company at €200,000 per annum. The lease allows for a rolling two-year landlord break option.

The most notable building, a 1,980sq m Georgian-style showroom, was built in 1996 and has a mixture of showrooms, offices and ancillary space over two floors.

The warehouse/manufacturing facility have an overall floor area of 6,800sq m in two buildings. There is a further €10,500 per annum from a telecommunications mast on the building.
