Man arrested after MDMA worth €30,000 seized in Dún Laoghaire

A man has been arrested after €30,000 worth of the drug MDMA was seized in Dun Laoghaire on Saturday night.

The Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) with an estimated street value of €30,000 was seized by gardaí from the Dún Laoghaire divisional drugs unit after they stopped and searched a car at Kill Avenue shortly before midnight on Saturday.

A man in his 20s was arrested and taken to Dún Laoghaire Garda station where he was detained for questioning under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

The arrest was carried out as part of an operation targeting the sale and distribution of controlled drugs in southeast Dublin.

The man has since been released and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions. The drugs have been forwarded for analysis.

Investigations into the drug seizure are ongoing.
