South Dublin includes suburbs south and west of Dublin city centre and within close proximity to the M50 and the N7.

While the long-established villages of Tallaght, Templeogue, Ballyboden, Clondalkin and Lucan have been popular for decades now, newer areas such as Citywest and Adamstown continue to attract first-time buyers.

In Dublin 22, Kilcarbery Grange is being developed on a 72-acre publicly owned site by Adwood, a joint venture of the Maplewood and Grandbrind Groups, with South Dublin County Council. The residential element of the scheme, of which 30 per cent will be public housing, will be built around a new village centre with shops and creches, and it borders the huge green space at Corkagh Park. The first phase of this 1,000-unit scheme, comprising 30-40 three- and four-bed houses, will launch from plans within weeks.

The 12 houses in the final phase of Elder Heath, at Kiltipper, Dublin 24, built by Kelland Homes, are being launched from plans now.

The same developer is about to launch houses at Aderrig and at The Heath in Adamstown; elsewhere in this area Hugh McGreevy & Sons is launching two- and three-beds at Hallwell.

At Graydon, in Newcastle, Cairn Homes is launching three- and four-bed houses at prices to be confirmed.
