BidX1 continues its disruptive march across the property buying and selling landscape with three online auctions scheduled to take place this month. Two days (February 22nd and 23rd) are set aside solely for the sale of more than 250 residential properties.
Some of the highlights in the February auction include a number of family homes in prominent Dublin locations including a faded Celtic Tiger five-bed on two acres beside Castleknock Golf Course in Porterstown with a reserve of €1 million, and a handsome semi-detached four-bed in Dublin 4 on South Lotts Road, just beside the Gasworks apartments, with a reserve of €630,000.
A general rule of thumb with these online auction lots is that many of the bigger properties have been unloved for quite a while and will require additional investment, but if it’s a rectory you’re after, this month’s auction has two to offer. One near Belturbet, Co Cavan, with seven bedrooms and 40 acres, has a reserve of €230,000, while the other is a four-bed near Urlingford in Co Kilkenny on 10 acres with a reserve of €285,000.
For investors or first-time buyers there are a couple of interesting apartment offerings including a portfolio of nine occupied apartments at Santry Cross, Dublin 9, with a rent roll of €111,900 annually, going under the hammer at €1.3 million. Other highlights include a two-bed apartment at Cowper Downs reserved at €385,000 and a three-bed apartment in Raheny reserved at €350,000.
Last month the Irish-owned online auction house – formerly Allsop Space – announced the acquisition of UK in-room auctioneers Andrews & Robertson, positioning BidX1 as the second-largest auction house in Britain and Ireland.
Meanwhile, the auction market here appears to be heating up, with Wilsons Auctions extending its remit here beyond the car market and into property. The Northern Ireland company plans to offer sales by auction and private treaty and has appointed long-established sales agent Celia Lamb as its new land and property manager.
