A significant landbank with potential for use as a logistics or warehousing hub has come to the market in Drogheda, Co Louth, seeking €4 million.

The 14.4 hectare (35.6 acre) site is being sold by local firm Premier Periclase, and is adjacent to the company’s site at Boyne Road, just outside the town centre. The land is zoned E1-General Employment in the Drogheda Borough Council Development Plan 2021-2027.

The guide price of €4 million indicates a price of €112,265 per acre..

The site is close to transport connections, as it is located about 5.5km from the M1 Motorway, 40km from Dublin Airport and about 50km from Dublin city centre, as well as being close to the centre of Drogheda.

It can be accessed on either the L2307, known locally as the Greenhills Road, or via a turn off on the R166, the TermonfeckinRoad.

The land is being brought to the market by REA Grimes. The agent will seek formal tenders at noon on Wednesday, March 2nd.

"This is a proven commercial location, suitable for specialist activities such as industrial manufacturing, storage, logistics and warehousing," said Paul Grimes of REA Grimes.

Premier Periclase has operated at Boyne Road, Drogheda,since 1977 and has business origins dating back to the 1930s. The company, which makes magnesium-based products for a variety of industries including steel, chemical and glass making, employs 94 people. However, it ran into difficulties in recent years due to rising energy prices and an examiner was appointed to the company by the High Court in December 2021.
