Sir, – Your editorial "Elections in Russia – A democracy in name only" (September 17th) contains the usual critical assessment of Russia and its politics.
This time we are presented with a biased “analysis” of parliamentary elections in Russia.
Even such a distorted point of view has a right to exist. We are open to discuss, in a fair and civilised manner, any issues, including the pros and cons of political systems in our respective countries.
But to use the numbers of people with Covid-19 as an argument in judging the level of democracy in a country is a new low for The Irish Times in its attitude towards Russia. – Yours, etc,
