Utility firm NTR has posted a €64.9 million operating loss for its fiscal first-half, compared to a nominal loss of €0.2million for the same six-month period a year earlier.

Group revenue was €205.4 million, a 27 per cent decline on the six months to the end of September 2008. The company attributed the fall in revenue to the disposal of the West-Link and a reduced level of activity in the sustainable waste management sector.

Attributable loss for the period under review was €46.1 million, as against an attributable profit of €23.2 million in the prior period.

At the end of September 2009, NTR had cash resources of €163.9m, which includes cash at group of €131.5 million and cash held in escrow of €32.4 million. Total assets were €1.4 billion.

An interim dividend of E0.0228 cent per share has been declared, the group said.
