A fraudulent email is being circulated seeking banking details from third level students, the Student Universal Support Ireland (Susi) authority has warned.
The emails claim to be from Susi and say (in poor English): “Due to incomplete student information update provided to Student Universal Support Ireland. Most Accounts have been suspended due to inaccuracy, and we strictly advise every student to update their information.”
It goes on to request recipients to “update your student finance login security details” and provides a link.
Susi, the authority responsible for processing student loans, has issued a statement saying the email “is not an official Susi email and the internet link contained within this email does not connect you to Susi’s official online student grant application system.”
"Please note that SUSI's official On-line Student Grant Application System is accessible at www.grantsonline.ie and its authenticity can be verified by the presence of a 'lock' symbol in your web browser."
