Gardaí have arrested a second person in connection with the attempted gangland murder of Christy Keane in Limerick on Monday.

A woman in her 20s was arrested around 8.30pm on Thursday in Limerick city.

She is being detained at Roxboro Garda station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act and can be held for up to 72 hours without charge.

A 37-year-old man, arrested on Monday, is still being questioned at Henry Street after gardaí were granted more time to detain him by a judge at Limerick District Court.

A convicted drug dealer, Keane (55) was shot numerous times in the car park beside University of Limerick sports arena on Monday morning.

He continues to recover in University Hospital Limerick where his condition is said to be stable.
