Two men arrested in separate seizures of cannabis worth a total of €1.5m

Men in Dublin and Wexford targeted in Garda operation against organised time

A 40-year-old man has been arrested after cannabis worth €1.4 million was seized in a warehouse in north Dublin on Friday.

A multi-agency operation was conducted the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and Revenue's customs service as part of an ongoing investigation targeting people suspected to be involved in organised crime.

A warehouse in Glasnevin was searched as part of the operation, and more than 71kg of herbal cannabis was seized with an estimated value of €1.43 million.

The man was arrested in relation to drug trafficking offences and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drugs Trafficking) Act, 1996, at Blanchardstown Garda station. He can be held for up to seven days.

Wexford

Separately, a 38-year-old man has been arrested after cannabis worth €73,400 was seized in Co Wexford.

A premises was searched as part of the operation to tackle organised crime and 3.67kg of herbal cannabis was discovered.

The man was arrested and is currently detained under Section 2 of The Criminal Justice (Drugs Trafficking) Act, 1996 at Wexford town Garda station.
