Man held in connection with serious assault released without charge

A 20-year-old man arrested in connection with a serious assault in Waterford at the weekend has been released without charge.

The man was one of two men held yesterday in connection with the assault in which a man was critically injured. The men were arrested at around lunchtime yesterday in Portlaoise and Kilcormac, Co Offaly.

Gardaí said the incident occurred shortly after midnight yesterday.
