BMW is reported to be working on two multi-purpose vehicles or people carriers.

The rumour mill has been working overtime of late, with several car magazines suggesting that a concept version was to be shown at Geneva last week.

While no such vehicles were on show, Automotive News is reporting this week that the two MPVs are being given serious consideration by senior executives, with a decision due later this year on whether a budget allocation will be given to the project.

Being developed under the code names RFK-1 and RFK-2, the new vehicles should be able to be produced on the current production lines.

However, a BMW spokesperson contacted this week said there had been no official briefing on production decision on any MPV vehicles as yet.
