The eight, three-storey houses in a new Foxrock development by builder Brian M Durkan & Co will each have four bedrooms, a study and open plan family/kitchen/dining area. With brick facades and bay windows, Fey Yerra Wood – the name comes from the original house on the site – is just a 10-minute walk from the village of Foxrock.
Its only the second development by the Durkan company since 2008. The company was also responsible for the development of 14 four-bedroom houses at Wingfield, Bray, Co Wicklow last year. With an average size of 120sq m (1,300sq ft) these houses sold predictably well. The company's largest pre-crash development, in 2005/6, was the 500 houses it built in Charlesland, Greystones, Co. Wicklow.

Hooke and McDonald begin selling the Fey Yerra Wood houses today. Six are completed and two have had their gardens landscaped; the development is expected to be finished by Christmas. Six of the houses measure 188sq m (2,023sq ft), one, the largest, is 206sq m (2, 217sq ft) and a final house measures 167sq m (1,800sq ft). Prices begin at €845,000 and go from €875,000 to €925,000. All the properties have an A energy rating.
Impressively stylish, the houses were designed by John Fleming Architects. There is a choice of main bedroom between a large, en suite bedroom occupying the third floor or a similarly large en suite on the second floor.
The ground floor has a sittingroom with double doors to the open plan area. There is a toilet and utility room on this floor also. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a study take up the second floor. The third floor room could easily act as a playroom if preferred. There is extra storage space in the fully-floored attic.
The kitchen in particular reflects the cool Fey Yerra Wood style. In pale shades of grey it has Italian quartz stone worktops, an island with a breakfast bar, cleverly lit storage cupboards and an integrated range cooker with ceramic hob, dishwasher, freezer, fridge and microwave. The sittingroom has a feature white-stone fireplace with a granite hearth and Wanders stove.
All the houses have gardens to the front and rear. The front has paved and planting areas, while a paved patio, trees, and external socket and other planting areas are located to the rear.
