I have mentioned the Château Lacombe Cadiot before. It offers excellent value for money and is a must-buy for claret lovers. I find myself drinking richer white wines over the winter months and there are plenty of chardonnays that fit into this category, including the well-priced Nugan below.

Nugan Estate Single Vineyard King Valley Chardonnay 2023
13.5% abv, €12 from SuperValu until December 25th
Medium-bodied with textured ripe peaches and subtle vanilla and smoke. This would go perfectly with smoked or fresh salmon, or turkey.

Château Lacombe Cadiot 2020, Bordeaux Supérieur
14% abv, €12 from SuperValu until December 25th
Very seductive rich, ripe blackcurrant and elderberry fruits, a touch of spice a lightly tannic finish. This would go nicely with roast red meats or goose.
