Aldi has two wines on offer since August 22nd. Both are Vino d’Italia, a broad term covering the whole country rather than any specific region. The white bottle looks as if it was designed to contain perfume rather than wine, but this is very fashionable, a trend probably started by Provence Rosé producers. The red bottle is more traditional, with a crest embossed on the front.
From September 5th Aldi will switch to a different special offer on two more traditional wines, the Freeman’s Bay Marlborough sauvignon blanc for €7.49 (down from €8.49) and the Specially Selected Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore for €8.49 (down from €10.49).
