This week two Portuguese wines from Lidl. Both Lidl and Aldi have obviously realised that Portugal offers great value for money and usually have a few wines on offer. The Douro Valley is best known for producing Port, the famous sweet fortified wine, as well as some full-bodied red wines. However, white wines from the higher-altitude vineyards can be fresh, light and fruity.
The Dão region, just south of the Douro is not as well-known in Ireland as it deserves to be, as it makes some world-class white and red wines. The Cabriz Rosé is made by one of the most reliable producers in the region.
