Scotch and Soda

Spiegeltent, Wolf Tone Square

The Spiegeltent returns, and with the sort of Australian circus cabaret act that many have come to associate it with. Scotch and Soda, from Company 2, is a blend of physical prowess and humour, trapeze and tease. Hands get increasingly complex stands; rickety boxes are stacked into precariously climbed pyramids; bicycles are cycled with bodies piled high; and a very sweet section involves some birds almost stealing the show. The Crusty Suitcase Band whip it along with a high-tempo mix of klezmer, jazz and music hall towards a grand finale of dramatic flips and leaps. Those of who have seen Circa's Wunderkammer or former Fringe favourites La Clique might find these tricks a little tried and tested, but if this is your first Spiegel rodeo, then roll up, roll up, and hold on to your hats.
