Fáilte Ireland yesterday said its new fund designed to attract more corporate meetings to Ireland has secured its first major success. A major US insurance company has chosen Ireland for its 2015 sales meeting. With over 2,000 delegates staying seven nights, it will bring some €9 million to the economy.
The final host-city competition was between Dublin, London and Edinburgh, with two cities out of the three to be selected. However, destination management company Odyssey International, working with Fáilte Ireland, added Killarney as a wildcard entry and struck gold when the decision was made to bring the event to Dublin and Killarney.
“We are delighted that our corporate meeting supports strengthened Odyssey International’s bid to bring this major corporate event to Ireland. Now our focus changes to ensuring that the delegates are impressed by what we have to offer as well as ensuring we attract more of this kind of business to our shores.”
