Etihad passengers will be able to watch live coverage of next Sunday's All-Ireland hurling final between Kilkenny and Tipperary while cruising at 30,000 feet.

The Abu-Dhabi-based carrier, which sponsors the hurling championships, plans to screen the game through its in-flight entertainment system, allowing commercial passengers watch a live game for the first time.

"The hurling final is one of the highlights in the Irish sporting calendar and I am sure our guests who can't watch the match on the ground will enjoy the excitement and passion that will be on display live from Croke Park," Etihad's general manager Beatrice Cosgrove said.

Uachtarán Chumann Lúthchleas Gael Liam Ó Néill said: “The GAA has made concerted efforts to establish a proactive strategy this year to make our games available to overseas audiences - games we believe rank alongside the best.”
