Datalex targets new clients in second half of the year

Irish airline reservations software business, Datalex, expects to sign up a number of new clients between now and the end of the year, according to chief executive, Aidan Brogan.

The Dermot Desmond-backed company said yesterday that it made $600,000 profits in the first six months of this year, three times the $200,00 it earned during the comparable period in 2013.

Revenue jumped 14 per cent to $20.2 million for the six months to the end of June on the back of strong growth in its core business, while earnings per share rose.

Datalex signed up a number of new airline clients during the period, including New York-based JetBlue, which has a partnership with Aer Lingus, Lufthansa subsidiary Brussels Airlines and Canadian carrier, Air Transat.

Mr Brogan said that Datalex expects to add to this in coming months. “We will be announcing a number of new customers before the end of this year and into the first quarter of next year,” he said.

Datalex opened a new office in Beijing this year, partly to service Air China, which is a long-standing client, and to exploit further opportunities in China. At least one new signings will be as a result of this move.

The company hired 23 people in its Dublin office during the first half, bringing numbers there to more than 100.
