The number of people who flew with Aer Lingus rose in November, according to figures released by its parent, International Consolidated Airlines Group (IAG) on Thursday.
IAG’s figures show that revenue passenger kilometres - the number of paying passengers aboard its craft multiplied by the distrance travelled - rose 13.2 per cent to 1.16 billion last month.
Overall, IAG’s four airlines carried 6.8 million passengers in November, 8.5 per cent more than the 5.7 million that flew with the group during the same month in 2014.
The airlines sold 79.3 per cent of the seats available on their craft during the month, compared with 77.5 per cent in November last year.
Early in the month, IAG said that it would supply Aer Lingus with a new Airbus 330-300 for long haul flights. The Irish airline is adding flights from Dublin to Los Angeles and Hartford Connecticut to its schedule from next year.
IAG owns British Airways and Spanish carriers, Iberia and Vueling along with Aer Lingus.
