Richard Moat, acting chief executive officer at Eircom, has been formally appointed to the role.

Mr Moat has been the chief financial officer and executive director of eircom since September 2012. Prior to this he spent 10 years as CEO of a number of telecoms businesses, most recently leading T-Mobile UK as its managing director. He took up the role as acting CEO when Herb Hribar stepped down from the role in September, after the telecoms company pulled back from an IPO . The departure of Mr Hribar led ratings agency Fitch to assert that it could damage Eircom's credit rating.

Announcing the appointment Padraig McManus, chairman of eircom said, that as CFO, Mr Moat has been “at the heart of the transformation and rejuvenation of the company over the past two years and he has demonstrated the knowledge, experience and enthusiasm required to lead the company through the next phase of its journey.”
