While the attention may have been on foldable phones at Samsung’s Unpacked event last week, the wearables deserve their turn in the spotlight. The Watch 5 (€309) and Watch 5 Pro (€379), set to ship at the end of the month, show Samsung is pitching itself to the health and wellness market in a big way.
If you are an everyday user, the Watch 5 should be more than enough; the Pro version adds more advanced features. Both have Samsung’s BioActive Sensor that combines into a single chip sensor for optical heart rate, electrical heart signal and bioelectrical impedance analysis. The watches allow users to monitor heart rate, blood oxygen, stress levels and blood pressure from their wrist.
The Watch5 Pro, with a more active consumer in mind, is made from durable materials such as sapphire crystal for the glass and a titanium casing. The battery is bigger, it has turn-by-turn navigation, and you can share your information on trails, waypoints and so on with other users.
