Grad Ireland Careers Showcase is aimed at helping students make better-informed decisions that will affect their career trajectory

Over 1,000 secondary and 3rd level students are expected to attend a careers showcase in Dublin on Tuesday.

The gradireland #FYI Careers Showcase is aimed at helping students understand their career options and to help them make better-informed decisions that will affect their career trajectory. Access to the event is free-of-charge for students.

The event follows the recent release of HEA data showing that over 6,000 dropped out of their first year course at third level institutions between 2012 and 2014.

Over 40 employers will be present at the event to explain to students what it is they look for in successful graduates they hire and advice will also be provided by Ahecs (Association of Higher Education Careers Services) career services.

The #FYI showcase is an initiative designed to enable students to understand their career options and to help them make better-informed career decisions.

The showcase will feature a series of video interviews with recent graduates, who discuss the realities of working in their field and detailing the skills students will need to be successful .

Live interactive workshops on key employability skills will also be held, with one-to-one advice from careers experts for students.
