Drogheda United 1 Limerick FC 4 Limerick FC picked up a well-deserved three points at United Park last night, and in doing so consigned Drogheda United to their ninth league defeat in 10 games.
The visitors were ahead after eight minutes, when a low, cross from Patrick Nzuzi found Danny Galbraith unmarked on the penalty spot, and he swept a first-time effort to the bottom corner.
Limerick doubled their lead on 24 minutes, when Galbraith’s flick set Tam McManus away down the right, and he cut inside before firing a shot past David Ryan.
Drogheda got a lifeline on the half-hour, when Declan O’Brien bundled Gavin Brennan’s near-post corner home. Two minutes later Shane Duggan fired a searing 25-yard volley past Ryan.
Limerick wrapped up the points three minutes after the break, when Shane Tracy's corner from the right flew straight into the net.
