Newcastle goalkeeper Rob Elliot has received his first call-up to the Republic of Ireland senior squad after being named as a replacement for the injured Darren Randolph for the World Cup qualifiers against Germany and Kazakhstan.

Interim manager Noel King finalised his 23-man squad on Saturday night and handed former under-19 international Elliot a call-up after Birmingham City's Randolph was forced to pull out with a shoulder injury.

Crystal Palace Damien Delaney has been named in the squad after proving his fitness in playing 90 minutes in the 3-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.

Stoke City's Jon Walters will be medically assessed at his club on Sunday to determine whether he will report for duty on Monday after being substituted in the 70th minute with a groin injury in his side's 1-0 game defeat away to Fulham on Saturday.
