Aaron Connolly has been ruled out of Ireland’s World Cup qualifier against Serbia on Tuesday night due to an injury.

The Brighton player started in the loss to Portugal last Wednesday and the draw with Azerbaijan on Saturday but suffered frustrating performances in both which included being taken off at half-time in the second match.

Connolly was not listed in the matchday squad on the Uefa website on Tuesday afternoon and his absence has been put down to injury while Ronan Curtis has also been left out of the 23 although the Portsmouth man is fully fit.

Celtic’s Liam Scales has been named in the matchday 23, as has Cyrus Christie who was called up to replace the injured Séamus Coleman.
